Healing From Emotional Trauma

Many times physical ailments have their roots in trapped emotions or even spiritual depths. We have to give ourselves permission to let go of these negative emotions and allow them to leave. In order to successfully eradicate them though it is helpful to have a safe person to stand in the gap for us. That person to me is always Jesus Christ. Here are a few resources to check out as you embark on this emotional and spiritual healing journey.

  1. Dr. Carolyn Leaf – “Detox Your Brain.” Dr Leaf is an excellent resource on practical tips on how you can renew your mind and create new neurological pathways every day towards a healthier, more positive mentality.
  2. John Eckhardt – “Prayers that Bring Healing.” John’s prayers have been extremely helpful for those looking to pray the Scriptures with purpose. He has several other books also on deliverance that are extremely useful.
  3. Hanna – Limbic System Rewire. This online resource includes video workshops along with a workbook to help you journal along your progress. Retraining your brain, very similar to Dr. Leaf’s work.
  4. Craig Miller – “Breaking Emotional Barriers to Healing.Craig Miller experienced his own miraculous physical healing, and he has dedicated his life to helping others receive the permanent emotional and physical restoration that is available through the healing power of God. Craig ministers to the spirit and soul to identify root causes that block your healing. He lends particular focus to cases in which no cause of an illness can be identified and what to do when healing does not occur.

The following model is a sample of how I pray through stuck emotions:

First, I pray and ask God to cover, protect, and lead us in our time together. Next, we identify the emotion that needs to be worked on that is primary to blocking healing, or connection to God. We then do a hug tap while we give ourselves permission to let go of the emotion – be sure to name the emotion(s) as you go. I tell myself that this is not our load to carry any longer and we are going to hand it over to Jesus. Then I ask Jesus to come into the space between me and the trauma that caused the emotion to become stuck. At this point, if you know what the trauma is, it is helpful to visualize yourself in the trauma and ask Jesus where He was during this time. Ask Him to show you where He is and what He is doing. Then I give Jesus the emotional baggage I am carrying from this trauma and request that He flush it out of all my cellular memory, all body systems, and all of my senses. If I feel any ungodly vibes, I bind the enemy (if you can name the entity, do call it out by name) and command all evil attachments to leave in the name of Jesus. I then ask Father God to fill all the voided spaces with His unconditional love, perfect light, and harmony to bring me back into alignment with Him in Jesus’ name.

I pray these tools bless and encourage you; and bring healing and deliverance to your soul!
