Deep Tissue Salve

As I am getting ready to send my oldest son off to college, putting together a mini-herbal kit has been on my mind. He plays football, so I wanted to make a salve that would be helpful for him as he faces harsher games than high school had been. Besides praying for him constantly, I have looked into several essential oil rubs and have re-created one. I used mostly Florihana oils in this blend.

Deep Tissue Salve

In 4 ounces of Dr. Christopher’s Complete Bone and Tissue Salve (that I make up by the gallon, because we do have eight active boys), I added the following:

  • 1/2 tsp organic cayenne pepper, powdered
  • 3 drops of each of the following essential oils: Blue Tansy and Peppermint
  • 2 drops of each of the following essential oils: Eucalyptus, Wintergreen, and Camphor
  • 1 drop of the following essential oils: Helichrysum, Chamomile, and Cinnamon

I mixed these all up together and put into a recycled lotion bottle. The idea is to use it after games or challenging workouts.

Stay tuned for my sending your graduate off with an herbal stash post coming soon!
